What are Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME)?

As per Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act, 2006 the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) are classified in two Classes:

  1. Manufacturing Enterprises: The enterprises engaged in the manufacture or production of goods pertaining to any industry specified in the first schedule to the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951) or employing plant and machinery in the process of value addition to the final product having a distinct name or character or use. The Manufacturing Enterprise is defined in terms of investment in Plant & Machinery.
  2. Service Enterprises: The enterprises engaged in providing or rendering of services and are defined in terms of investment in equipment.

Udyog Aadhar

Udyog Aadhaar is a twelve-digit Unique Identification Number provided by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India for small and medium enterprises in India. It is also known as Aadhaar for Business.

What are the documents required for MSME registration?

When registering Udhoy Aadhar the following documents require

  1. Personal Aadhar Number
  2. Name of Owner
  3. Category of Applicant
  4. Name of Business
  5. Type of Oragnisation
  6. Bank Details
  7. Key activity
  8. National Industrial Classification Code
  9. Number of Persons Employed
  10. Details of District Industry Center (DIC)
  11. Date of commencement

 Udhyog Aadhar Registration Process

  1. Log on to official website https://udyogaadhaar.gov.in/UA/UAM_Registration.aspx
  2. Enter your Aadhaar number and name in the fields labeled ‘Aadhaar Number’ and ‘Name of Entrepreneur’.
  3. Check the box and then click on ‘Validate and Generate OTP’.
  4. Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile.
  5. Upon successful verification, you will be redirected to a form.
  6. Fill in all the appropriate fields like ‘Name of Enterprise’ and ‘Type of Organisation’. (Pay careful attention while filling the ‘National Industry Classification Code’ and ‘Major Activity’.)
  7. Upon completion, recheck the data to ensure that there are no errors.
  8. Scroll to the bottom and click on ‘Submit’.
  9. You will then receive another OTP on your registered mobile number.
  10. Enter it accurately and click the final ‘Submit’ button to complete application.
