Food License (FSSAI)

FSSAI stands for the Foods Safety and Standard Authority of India. Now onwards it is compulsory for every Food Business Operator to register in FSSAI and get its license from them.

There are three types of FSSAI / Food License

1. Basic License
2. State License
3. Central License

Points to be noted

1. If the food business running in more than two states, then the food business operator has to obtain a central license for its registered Office and separate license for each unit depending upon the turnover from the concerned state / central licensing authority. 
2. If in case turnover is less than 30crore and owning up to 100 wagons then require FSSAI State License and for those whose turnover is more than 30 crore and owning more than 100 wagons require FSSAI Central License.  
3. The validity of FSSAI registration may vary from 1 to 5 years.
4. You need to obtain a separate license for each product that you are selling. 
5. For renewal of FSSAI state license depends upon the number of years selected.
